I’d like to come across more poets from Eastern Europe, but translations are hard to come by. Until then, I’ll be glad I’ve got the collected works of Wislawa Szymborska. She won the Nobel Prize.
“You may get to know me, but you’ll never know me through.
My whole surface is turned toward you,
all my insides turned away.”
–Wislawa Szymborska, from “Conversation with a Stone.”
