Poem Fix of the Day, July 4th, 2011.

Here’s a short poem by Walt Whitman that I think pretty well sums up the meaning behind Independence Day.  Happy 4th of July.

To the States or any of them, or any city of the States, Resist

much, obey little.

Once unquestioning obedience, once fully enslaved,

once fully enslaved, no nation, state, city of this earth, ever

afterwards resumes its liberty.

–Walt Whitman, To the States.
